Ok i Know I can fit either...modifying the arm. those of you who have run the 180 do you like it. the 170...I am working on customizing the magna.....brand? I do all the work and modifications as I am on a very tight budger......what are your thoughts?
I have had them both couldnt tell much difference in the ride however the 180 looks better to me and it last longer.
I have the 170 now, never ran a 180. I used a stock sized rear for the first 3 years I had the bike and was fine with it. At wear out time I replaced it with a 170 though as everyone seemed to agree it would wear longer then the stock size. I like the look of the 170 and I also got a couple mpg's out of it. For my first 3 years I had the stock sized tire and my mpg's were always around 38-39 for my normal riding. After the 170 my mpg's are in the 40-41 range now. So the 170 and it's built in final drive ratio change helped me for my riding style. BTW, I am using the Dunlop K555, but was seriously considering the Avon, Metzler is also in the mix.
170 is a tall tire, biggest we can use. Looks good, lowers rpms saving a bit of fuel (not much).
180 is not as tall but still nice look etc.
I personally like the 170 but that is personal taste.
Like it was said it is personal preference. I believe I took pictures of my bike with (555)170 and (555) 180. I will try to find them. But I like the look of the 180. I really did not feel a big difference between them on the ride. I am not an aggressive rider so if you are an aggressive rider you need to go by their opinions for the ride.
I like the idea of the 180 for the lower profile and wider look. what brand is more cost effective vs wear? I think I will go with a 180...now what exact 180 size...

Robert, were you able to find those pictures of your bike with the different rear tire sizes?
