Since my round of latest problems I added a voltmeter.
I wanted a gauge which would fit well within what we have to work with and not be too obtrusive, I would have liked it smaller but this seems to work okay. I will add night photos once it gets dark.

Very nice ... I like it better than the Kuryakyn gauge I've got on mine as it shows the actual voltage instead of just yellow, green or red led segments. BTW, are those Aeromach risers?
I also have the Kuryakin gauge , and it reads consistently low, by about 2 - 2.5 volts. I thought I had a charging problem, but my multimeter shows 12.8 - 13v at idle, when the gauge says 11, and the multimeter shows 14.5v @ 3000 rpm, while the gauge shows 12. As long as I know that, I can live with it, but it really had me worried until I checked it out.
Nice Terry... Where did you get the meter?? Or are you selling them??
Why don't you ride the Magna some?? 19K miles??

Charlie,
You brought up a good point, I wanted the actual voltage to show, not LED light graph. Yes those are Areomach risers, I picked them because they are already chrome, they are great.

I could say, I spread my time over a lot of bikes but that's not the case.
In the last 3 years in this economy I have not ridden as much as I would like, all my time has been focused on the new business venture. Hiring more help has allowed me to get back to the road and in the last 12 months I have taken a couple of trips with another coming up in 1 1/2 weeks, not long trips but trips none the less.
With the trip coming up and trouble with the bike stranding me I switched all my bags and such to Magna #2 while I problem solve Magna #1, part of that is the new meter so I know if I need to head for help.
Not selling the meters, it was about 30.00 shipped IIRC from here.

Lest you think I forgot, which I did working photos in-between working.

I thought so. I've got the same risers on my Manga ... got them for about 50% off retail on ebay. They were used but pretty much look like new. I really like them and they look great too.
I need to go to fryes this weekend so i will look for volt meter. There is a place in Carrollton that will have one just need to find the time to go there.
Here are the photo's at night, not too bright.

Looks perfect, not too bright..
I like it.
Yes, I like it too. Although the Kuryakyn LED gauge has two brightness settings and an optical sensor to provide automatic dimming at night, the slightest bit of additional ambient light (like passing under a street lamp), can cause it to switch into daylight (bright) mode which is very distracting at night. I've thought about just putting a small piece of electrical tape over the sensor and leaving it in dim-mode all the time but haven't yet done so ... not sure how much that will affect daylight operation (if dim is acceptable in bright sunlight). The gauge you found may be a viable alternative. Thanks for taking the time to post about it.
Your new voltmeter display looks really nice.

Thank you sir, swapped the bags and such so I took the 97 Magna on the trip last week so I have not ridden the 01 to see if my charging issue is fixed.
I hope to ride the 01 Magna and feel comfortable enough to swap my accessories back over to take the 01 to Big Bend. I don't think Robert would want to pick me up way out there.

Whoa! Is this a private trip, or can I come, too? I have been daydreaming about a Big Bend trip for some time now...
Rode the bike for the first time in the bright sunlight, the LED will washout in direct sunlight, otherwise the display is faint but see-able.
The trip was going to be for a few people who might want to go, after a little hesitation on their part due to the timing of the trip at Thanksgiving I decided Mary Ellen and I would make the adventure by ourselves and no more would be said.
That being said, Come On, I have no issues with it.
I can post up an Itinerary for you to see what the plan is.
Hope you enjoy your trip, are you going to switch everything back over to this Magna now?

Maybe but I need some hours on the bike to test reliability, even than I doubt I can give the bike enough time to be sure for the trip, probably be a last minute decision.
are you still worried about the electrical system?

Yes, I have not found what the problem is yet or if I have it fixed.
Have not wired it in yet and just a rubberband holding it in place for the photo.
Terry were did you wire it in to?
Found it at Haber Freight.

One of my Keyed accessory wires, which one exactly I would have to take a look.

I need to change a light on the tachometer so I will tie it to it.
