Thanks for the link, Chad.  The newer MOSFET design should dissipate substantially less head under light load conditions.  Under heavy load there probably won't be much difference in dissipated heat -- but it also appears to me that this unit has more heat dissipation capacity, since it looks to be a bit larger.  (I would hope the thermal design is improved over the "bucket full of ickumpuckie" in the cavity of the stock units!!)

I would imagine that this unit will have better reliability than our old designs, which appear from the posts to be the most troublesome feature of our Magnas -- certainly of the 3rd gen ones.  I would still mount the unit somewhere other than under the battery box, though!
