Title: Anyone do the Shadow Spirit risers swap?
Post by: iceprizm on April 04, 2012, 04:27:50 PM
I am attempting to swap out my stock risers for a set from a shadow spirit. The only issue is that the spirits sit on top of the triple plate isolators leaving a large gap between it and the risers. I was able to remove the top isolator from the a spare plate and with a small spacer the riser fits on the plate perfectly. However doing that means the riser now is mounted directly to the triple plate (loosing any anti-vibration the stock setup had). The install does look clean with no gap, just wondering if there may be an issue with any vibration feeding into the handlebars.
If anyone has done the swap I'd like to know how you chose to mount the risers.

I put a set of the Shadow risers on mine about 2 years ago.  I just pulled the stock ones out and put the Shadows in it's place.  Yes there is a gap, but I have no vibration (difference anyway) from stock and the risers and bars are as solid as they were before.

BTW, I bought just the Shadow riser bottoms, and used my stock tops.

yeah I just got the bottoms too. :-P
Im gonna try removing the top sleeve on the triple plate, theres just too much of a gap for me.
that way the riser sits flush with the plate, give me some extra cable/wire room too. any vibration ill just have to deal with later on.
I heard some people prefer the risers not to have rubber mounts. I cant imagine that the small amount of 16 year old rubber would make too much of a difference anyway.
BTW how much longer did you find you needed for the clutch and throttle cables?

I just re-routed the clutch and throttle cables behind the steering head and got enough slack.  I did get a +3 brake SS brake line though, not sure if I needed +3, but that's what I bought.

well I got +2" on the clutch and throttles figured if I was using +3" risers should work out ok.
I did order +3" brake line. Ill have to see when it comes in how well it works.
