In July "Rider", there is a good article about 'going to the dark side'. I will bring my copy to MM10 for anyone who wishes to read it. Appears to be slanted toward motorcycle designed tires.

Well I will be going back to the Darkside soon as it should give me better traction when I take it to the Drag strip.
It seems to me there is more passion than reason in the debate. I have one of each, and while there is a difference, it isn't worth getting all worked up over...

Good way of putting it Lawrence.
On the wings and calls, there is now a choice of a couple of run-flat tires... This takes away the only real argument, at least to me...
Now if the would just make one in Magna size!
That could turn into a late night discussion at MM10.. I have a lot of light to shed on the dark side topic.......

Not happening, Hoot. It is bad enough being reminded of goofy stuff I wrote -- much less what I said!!
I have never understood the "dark side". But would be curious of learning more.
Well, Ted, I started putting sport car tires on my first Rocket III with the hopes of getting more mileage out of it and saving money on the cost.
It gives a different look to the bike and I never found it impaired my ability to keep up with the likes of Curtis and Terry. (that is what nay sayers preach)
Plus you usually have to find someone on the back streets to change it as dealerships stay away from that threat of liability. Or else change it out yourself.
I got maybe a couple thousand more miles out of the tire, (7k vs 11k).
I went through 3 car tires on that bike. When I got my new Rocket III I decided to stick with the stock stuff.
I would try it just once if you have the chance.

More like the other way around.
