Riding anywhere? I miss the rides in Cali!
It'll be me on my bike, wife on her trike, 2 gold wings and a Boulevard. One of the GW riders' wife will bring a "support truck". She doesn't ride, but likes the trips.
We are starting from NorCal, will ride across Nevada into So Utah, drop briefly down into No AZ, then across So CO, to Colorado Springs. We will ride to the top of Pikes Peak while there. On the way back we will cross many passes, winding our way through central Colorado, staying on 2-lane mountain roads south of I-70. The trip will take between 12 & 14 days, depending on things we decide to do or see on the way. Should be a nice break from the grind.
I wanna go!
Me too. Sounds like a blast. Pictures, pictures, pictures for those of us who live vicariously through you adventurous types. :-P
I'm putting a mount on my handlebars so I can record my odometer turning over 100k. There will be plenty of pics taken, if I can figure out how to post them. :)
If it is on your route, I recommend Loveland Pass. It bypasses the Eisenhower tunnel. About the only traffic is the occasional truck carrying flammable or hazardous material. Otherwise, just you and the other motorcyclists. Nice road, great views.
I'm familiar with Loveland Pass. Been over it a couple of times several years ago, but always in a cage. We lived in Evergreen, Co for a couple of years in the early '80's. I worked for a diesel engine maker, and covered the Rocky Mountain States from Canada to Mexico. Didn't have a bike then, it was during my hiatus from riding while raising 3 daughters. I rode from 1964 to 1981, stopped for a while, and started riding again in 1996, when the youngest was in high school.
