Ok so Snoopy needs a tire change and I will be going to the Darkside if I can find the tire in time. Anyhow my new to me bike should be showing up that day also so we should have something to do and plenty to lie about.
I am up at 7ish so anytime after that is fine will have the coffee going I will have the Tire Changer setup and also have the Chain press to do chains if anyone needs that. I think we can manage whatever you need.
So again Saturday Aug 11th starting at 7am till it gets dark and even then I have good lighting in the garage LOL
So tell us about this "new to you" bike. Also, I *may* not be able to come done. I'm waiting with white knuckles to find out if I'll be able to move into a new house so I've got to save all of my money for that.
I will start a new post. I hope you can make it there will be tire changing going on one way or another LOL
I will not be able to make this one. Will be in Cozumel that day. See you guys when I get back.
Thats like rubbing it in isn't it
I am in. I can definitely make it in the morning but I have to be back in Huntsville by noon. I am planning on going Darkside as well. I was able to buy a BF Goodrich off the shelf at the Discount Tire in Huntsville, so I would think chances are good they may have at least 1 more? I also have 2 extra valve stems if anyone needs them. They are the angled ones from NoMar.
Shoot wish I knew that heck all around my area here they were out had to Discount had to order one from Cali I think it is here I think so should be good for Saturday.

Good news is I was approved for the house, but the bad is that I will not be able to come down to the wrenching session.
Sweet! I've been waiting for another Houston wrench session for a while now. Was out of town during the last one.
I was wanting to clean my chain this weekend. I'm sure someone there knows how and can show me. I have some chain lube that I got at the stealership, but can someone let me know what I'll need to clean it? I can pick it up this week and bring it Saturday.
Thanks.

Jeez, might as well ask what's the best oil to use
Personally I use naptha and a rag to clean the chain. You can find naptha in the paint and paint cleaner sections of any big box/HW store. I then just spray the chain down with WD-40 and I'm good for 500-1000 miles. I like to keep things simple, so naptha and WD-40.
BTW, I bought my 01 5 years ago with 8K miles and am up to 28K now. I still have my original chain with lotso life still left on the adjusters and have used naptha/WD-40 since about 9K. So, it works for me. Just fyi, I also have a couple of pieces of cardboard that I use to "fence" off the rear wheel and also the garage floor, since WD40 will run off the chain after it's initally applied.
Yep WD 40 works for me too but don't let that keep ya from coming over I have my tire and been cleaning the garage new garage so I have to get the tire changer mounted well setup to anyway but look forward to seeing everyone. If anyone needs directions shoot me a PM.

Ha! I know not to open that can of worms. I read another thread on chain cleaning where Iragam used wax dissolved in paint thinner to clean his chain. I was mainly asking in case I need to bring anything like that - paint thinner, wax, wire brush, etc. I know Allen has all the tools to remove the chain (if I'll even need to). I just didn't want to show up with nothing at all, especially if I'll need something that's easy to bring and something I'll use again in the future next time I clean the chain.
Does that wd40 come in a royal purple can, I can't believe Allen would use anything else lol
Well I have to relabel it cause everyone wants to use it so I run out quicker
And we all know the est oil it will be evident when you show up LOL
Looking forward to seeing everyone should be a good day albeit HOT but not as hot as my friends in Dallas area stay cool guys and girls.
Ok so ready to go I hope I went ahead and changed my tire out was a little harder than I remember getting it to seat anyhow it is done just figured we will have alot to do without my tire and rotor change so got them done.
Allen, when I installed the dark side tire, I set the tire and rim WAAAYYY off down the driveway, with a long air hose, stood back at the regulator and kept turning up the pressure until it seated. Took 110 PSI !!
Yeah it was one little bit that would not seat but finally went with a BANG LOL
I am up where are you all LOL time for some coffee WAKE UP and come on down to the wrench session. !!!!!
Thanks for putting on the wrench session Allen. The tire felt great on the way home.
No problem and glad you like it should get many miles out of it. Thanks to all that came out and to Jeff for going out of his way to bring me my new bike.
The new bike will get me into alot of trouble lets put it that way
