Does anybody know what the metal tube is which is going around the right crankcase cover in this picture? Is it a california model thing, because I don't have one on my Magna.

Probably the California emissions.
I have never seen one I thank it looks cool.
I wonder if it can be plugged to keep it.
I once asked what the big bolt (http://www.magnaownersoftexas.com/forums/index.php/topic,2523.0.html) on the right side of the motor was for, and I was told it was for the Cali model, so I guess this is evidence... I used the bolt to mount the air horns on my yellow Magna..

Ah, case closed then. Excellent. Now tell me where I can get me some fancy air horns like that, it *does* seem like a good use of that screw well.
I also put my air horns there also.
Where is this bolt hole?

Look at the 1st post in the link I provided...
Cali model, STAY AWAY!!!!! SUCKS to work on them, they have miles of vacuum hose's etc. I personally will not do carb work on one again! I also personally would wait to buy a non cali model if I were about to buy.
Just me!

I was always suspicious that Calis were hosers
If Greg says stay away that would be good for me.
The bolt the air horn was attached is the one that is the support at midpoint.
I see it now - thanks!

Agreed!! I have personally seen one as well. Luckily, he didn't ask me to work on the carbs. To him, it was running fine. It was definitely running lean however. He didn't want it worked on, I kept my mouth shut.
