Title: Gen 2 rear rim, on a Gen 3???...
Post by: Jmosmith on May 03, 2013, 04:23:37 PM
I have always been fond of the solid rear wheel/rim of the Gen 2 Super Magna, and I see them from time to time on Ebay (like today).

Has anyone ever tried to put a Gen 2 rim on a Gen 3 bike?  Heard of it?  ...or most importantly, heard of any problem with it?

I expect that hooking up the brakes is about the most complex part really.

Thanks,
James

I would think going from a shaft drive wheel to a chain drive wheel would be the big issue...

Yeah, that's the head problem there. Can it be done? Maybe, but at what cost to the wallet.

You would need a Super wheel and some good measuring technique. Might be able to adapt a sprocket holder to the wheel assembly. Axle sizes, who knows. At least they both got drum brake assemblies.

Might be easier to have someone form up a couple of bolt on wheel covers for the stock rim and simulate a solid wheel. This is what the super does on one side now.
