Post by: rjb/AKA Bob Barram on June 03, 2013, 11:26:11 AM
My friend's magna has the handle bar risers but needs the longer clutch cable. Anyone know where to get it?

Rob, I've a 3rd Gen with 2" risers, but didn't need a longer clutch cable... what year is your friend's Magna?

I've got Aeromach 4" risers on mine and felt I needed longer cables because of some binding at the extremes of the handlebar range.  I went with with Barnett custom cables sourced through Phatperformancparts.com.  They were pricey in stainless steel but they do look great.

I have a set of Shadow risers on mine and that needed a longer brake line, but I was able to re-route the clutch and accelerator cables to behind the steering head and that gave me the clearance I needed.

So where did you find the Shadow risers, and, if I may be so bold, how much did you pay for them.  I think they are the coolest looking solution to the pullback I need for the Mustang to be perfect, but the dealer price made me gag.

I was watching eBay for quite some time and saw a set of the Shadow riser bottom sides come up.  The stock Magna top/bolts fit right into them.  As I recall, I paid $50 for them.  This was a couple of years ago though.

Does anyone know the year and model number or the Honda part number for the Shadow risers?

I have totally forgotten the years you need to look for, and I think they might just be for the 750 Shadow, not the 1100, but don't quote me on that, working from memory and that should be very suspect.  Might check eBay, or a Shadow forum and look for the risers that look like the Magna's.  They are the same shape, just longer.

...look what I just found, search is your friend

I had posted this to another message (http://www.magnaownersoftexas.com/forums/index.php?topic=1839.0):

Also look for a set of risers from a pre-2005 (I think 05 anyway) Honda Shadow Spirit 750.  These are about 1" higher and 0.5" more pullback.  I just found a set on eBay for myself, but am waiting on their arrival.

I like the rounded styling of the stock set better then the square fluted look of Cyclistic's, although I would have bought from Cyclistic if he made a set that I liked.

The Shadow risers seem to go for about $50 on eBay, give or take $10-20, but finding them is not easy.  I've waited a few months for a set to show up that I liked and didn't get out bid on.

I looked at the Gen-Mar's too, but figured for close to the same price I can get some Shadow risers.

Also note that if you have all the stock riser hardware, you can order a new set of Shadow riser bottoms, then use the stock cap, bolts, and bottom nut/washer.  I had found a set of the Shadow bottoms on eBay and then used the rest of my stock hardware.

Wow, five years ago, I'm getting too old to remember how long ago things were

Hey Lurkin,

Thanks for the info. I think I'll start looking for the Shadow risers.
