Title: Water pump seepage?
Post by: hop along on October 24, 2014, 11:16:03 PM
Can someone take a gander at their 3rd gen water pump from the underside?  I've a leakeage/weapeage that seems to come from a small hole at the underside of the water pump cover area.  The hole looks too good to be damage, but  I just can't see that it is coming from any other location.  See photos, taken from the underside of the bike, from the middle looking out.  The hole I speak of is at the bottom of the photo with the photo er... upside down depending on which way you look at it

Since all water pumps I have seen have a weep hole i will say you are correct and have a bad seal in yours.

I agree with Terry replace the seal or replace the pump your leak will be solved.

While you are replacing your pump (I'd get a used one), Go ahead and replace the o-ring where the water pump goes into the case on drive side of the pump..
If it hasn't started to leak oil there yet, it will... Might as well kill two birds with one pump...

Thanks gentlemen
I'll plan on replacing the seals, I don't know how or why the pump body or cover would be an issue in and of itself.
