As I mentioned in a previous post, I have a 95 Magna which is in need of some minor work. The tank has two small dents which need to be repaired, and then the entire tank re-painted. However, there are several questions that I have.
First, what is your opinion about adding decals? I have located and purchased (eBay, of course) a set of decals, but now I am wondering if I really want to put them on. Should I leave the tank with no decals, or put those gi-normous checkered flags back on? Obviously there is no right or wrong answer, but I value your opinion . . . any pros or cons? I have heard people painting their tank just to get rid of them, and I also know people want them pretty bad (I saw them go for $60+ on eBay).
Second question: I am seriously considering the idea of modifying the tank (with a Valkyrie tank) to increase the capacity. While most of my driving is short distances, fewer fill-ups is appealing. And since I am going to have to have it worked on anyway, why not do it now? Any opinions on that modification?
Ok, I'll leave you with that. But thanks in advance for any ideas/opinions that you choose to share. Doug
First of all, Doug, welcome to MOOT and owning a Magna. :)
Decals:
I like mine. But I have different ones that the checkered flags and I like mine better. I'm not sure what year they switched.
Tank:
If you want to do the Valk mod I'd say do it now to save on painting and labor. I believe you have to use the bottom of your Magna tank and weld the top on from a Valk tank. That means you don't have to fix those dents... You just get to pay for the welding. And you're going to have to paint the tank either way.
