Bought a nice V30 for my grandson and am giving it a tune up and filter change. I tried to follow the manual to remove the fuel pump and filter but can't get to it. It's like they built the bike around it. I have removed the battery, battery box, coolant reservoir and nuts securing the pump assembly. However, I can't see a way to remove it. Any help would be appreciated.
Wish I could help..
I know very little about the Gen II's and even less about the V30..
Someone will chime in...
Well, obviously no one knows how to replace the fuel filter. I finally got it out but it was not easy. First, the manual says to remove the pump and filter as a unit. However, it did not explain how you get it out of the tight spot it's located. My solution was to remove just the filter. I disconnected the fuel line at the bottom of the shut off valve which leads to the filter. Then I disconnected the fuel line from the filter to the pump where it connects to the pump. I then moved the rubber housing, that the filter sits inside, and pried the filter backwards until it was free.
I damaged the short 90 degree hose from the filter to the pump as it was very tight but will make another.
Thanks for the update. The sharing of knowledge here is what enables others to come back and find lessons learned from our trials and tribulations. :-) There's not that many first generation riders on your so I'm sorry somebody and have an easy answer for you.
