Title: new rear tire
Post by: Brad Badgett on February 04, 2016, 10:21:47 PM
Had been having an annoying off and on vibration on the '96 for ~3yrs.  Thought problem was bearings, wheel balance, etc. Finally took to a local cycle shop for front and rear tires, chain and rear sprocket, and fork oil change.  Found out the old rear tire was the problem. It was a Duro.  Was fine the first 2k miles, but then the vibration  came and went, lack of stability in corners, etc.  Runs like new with new tires Dunlops. Wait a couple hundred miles and test on some curves for stability.

Brad,

What is a Duro tire.

Plus 1. I've never heard of that tire brand. But I am no means a tire expert and I'm sure there's a lot of brands out there I've never heard of.

I've been the happiest with my Perelli Night Dragon rear tire of any tire I have had.
It is a 170 so you have to have the off set rear wheel stability rod, but it's been the best.
With the exception of a car tire (Which you are not suppose to put on a 15" rim).. Otherwise I'd have that on there.

Duro is a brand of street cycle tires. It was a last minute decision, only 15" the shop had. Evidently, not the best.

Your not suppost to put them on a motorcycle but that doesn't seem to stop anyone.

Did not stop me.  It wasn't easy, but I have been running it for 5K+ miles, with no visible signs of wear.  $50 delivered to my front gate...
