Title: Battery connection stripped
Post by: MarvinT on June 05, 2016, 02:00:25 PM
The battery terminal threads are stripped. The steel screw is fine, but terminal threads are barely holding on.  Thought about lining the connector with some aluminum foil, but not sure about the dissimilar metal electric connection.
Is there a quick cheap fix for this?

What about replacing the little nut that the screw threads into?   Is this not a stock (or similar) setup?

Charlie, Thanks for pointing out my blunder.  I had added a trickle charger connection to the battery connection. This raised my base for the connection screw and it would not quite reach the nut. Actually I had forgotten there was a nut there and was thinking that the battery post was threaded for the screw.  A thin plastic shim raised the nut enough to connect with the screw. Thanks again.

I've run into the same issue  as I've got several things connected off the battery.  I usually sit a small piece of cardboard under the nut to raise it up to meet the screw.  A slightly longer screw would probably work too but you can't go too long or you won't be able to tighten it up as it will bottom out.
