Title: 85 VF700C Carb Cleaning
Post by: Cadmandu on June 20, 2016, 11:59:41 AM
Hi All,
Can anybody tell me how much adjustment and cleaning I can do without pulling the carbs off?
Thanks

You can probably adjust the idle mixture with the carbs on the bike and you can sync them... But I don't know that you're going to be able to clean them very much with them still on the bike.

I'd be real cautious of what I poured into the tank to clean them too. I'd stick to fuel cleaners only.

There's no substitute for pulling them off the bike because there are just too many tiny passages that are probably gummed up if the bike's been sitting.

Thanks Guys,
I guess I should pull the gas tank and reserve as well. Can I do a good job pulled but not removed from the manifold? Three years ago I did this to a 84 VF700C and putting them back on the manifold and getting all the linkages hooked up correctly was a nightmare. This a 85 is the reserve tank easier to get out?
