Title: Highway pegs
Post by: Drdubbya on March 29, 2017, 04:17:28 PM
Hey guys,

I am looking to add some highway pegs to my Magna, what are yalls thoughts on the best options? I have an MC enterprises engine guard on order, so Im not sure if/how that effects fitment.

I have seen two basic options:

One kit comes with a bracket that mounts to existing holes in the frame, and you can screw the pegs onto that.

The second is just the 1.25" clamps that I am guessing mount to the frame tubes.

Are the pro's or cons to either?

Thank you,

-Dennis

Hey Dennis,

I think the MC guard will get in the way of your feet if you managed to mount the pegs on the frame. You have to leave room for your foot to protrude forward after locking your heel on the peg.

The MC Enterprise guard is 1.25". The frame is much larger. You'll be able to use the kit you mentioned on the MC guard bars except the pegs will slope downward so you may want to get the mounts that are more adjustable. I think Kuryakyn calls them the offset clevis mounts. It's been a while since I bought them.

Some riders on this forum dislike the position of their feet with the MC bars and Kuryakyn pegs, but I like them.  They have double rotation capability, so one can adjust them to the position that feels best.  Kuryakyn is proud of their stuff, and I tried to find another solution, but failed.  Been a few years, though.

BTW, the only time I had a serious get-off, my MC bars saved my engine.  Had to replace the bars, but, hey, they did the job!

Dennis,

What Magna are you working on?

If you put the bike info in your signature line like the others it will help someone answer your question.

i have longhorns with foot pegs.. I like them as you can adjust how high/low, how close/far you put your pegs.. I'm 6'1, so it allows me to move the pegs out and give me a bit more leg room...

Hey guys!

Thank you for all the responses!

Sorry for the delayed reply, work has been relentless the last few days.

I changed my signature to reflect my bike, I thought i had already done that...oops.

How are you all mounting them to the MC bars? Are you all facing them out from the bike off the bars?

Thank you again!

Yes, I face them out -- and with my short legs, mount them about half way down the straight portion between the top bend and the bottom.  I tried them at various heights and angles to discover what felt best.

Thanks for the information guys! The bars still havent arrived, I think they are supposed to be here by the weekend though so I am hoping to get those on and then be able to get an idea for how I want the pegs situated.

Yall are awesome!
