Title: 83 v65 magna top end clicking
Post by: Rage10 on August 29, 2019, 09:16:16 AM
Hey all,
I have a pair of v65 magnets that I am in the process of restoring. Got the first one running and after a little while I noticed a clicking from the rear cylender head. Cant pin it down any farther then that. Boroscoped the cylenders and no evidence of valve hitting. Good compression all around. I'm wondering if its the chain tensioner. Where can I buy the newer style tensioner? I googled a bit this morning and I couldn't fine any.
Any pointers would be appreciated.

If you have hydraulic lifters in those that could be the issue. The V65s were lacking oil up top and you may want to perform the fix at some point. If the lifters are shim and bucket maybe in need of adjustment or new springs for proper tension.
