Title: Shaved my rear end!
Post by: Chaz on July 11, 2005, 06:51:19 PM
Ok for those of you who think I was talking about something else, haha!

So as some of you know I have been trimming some of the fat off my 94. So the Latest I have to say is what I was looking for with respect to the rear end.

Here is it is before and after.

BEFORE with a little triming

AFTER Removed the entire rear tail light mount, fabed a new mount tucked the light in about 3 inches, moved the turn signals to the swing arm. Dropped the bike 4 inches, pluged (eww) the rear seat mount hole that was left behind with a 5/8ths chrome hole plug from Lowes :-).

Smoooooth as a baby's behind!

Are my eyes playing tricks on me or are you running a larger rear sprocket?

Noticed you are in Austin.  I'll be attending an MTF lunch at Black's BBQ in Lockhart this Saturday.  Details:  http://forums.delphiforums.com/MCTourer/messages?msg=16546.1

Your the second person to say something but no I have not made any changes to the sprocket size. I think it is the missing chain guard, tire size and the lowering that makes it look bigger.

I will be on the road over the next 10-15 days, installing SAT dishes and WiFi at 38 rest areas all over Texas so I will be missing a few rides. Have fun in Lockhart, it is a real nice little town....

Looks like you made it a hard tail... can you share what you did (materials, stores and such)?

Yep, she is a hard tail now, lowered about 5 inches as well.

I found some one inch stock at Lowes, I tried round tubing but I just never felt like it would have been strong enough. I have seen after market struts for sale that are made from round tub, but I feel much better with the one inch solid.

I basicaly just measured how long I wanted them or short depending how you look at it. I then just squared the ends to match the old shock mounts drilled holes for the bolts painted them and put them on. I had to make some adjustments to the rear fender because of some light rubbing and the chain was hitting it because the pitch of the swingarm changed as well.
