Last summer I built the addapter for my Sears jack for my '96 VF750. It works good. But now I put on an aftermarket center stand. I don't think I would like to do too much wrenching on the bike as now it rests on the centerstand. And there's only a small bolt the is used as a stop to take the weight.
Has anyone put on one of these centerstands? Do you still use a jack and if so any sugestions? I like the centerstand for while traveling.
Contact Dobie at www.cycle-istic.com (he is the designer of the stand) and talk with him on a game plan.
Dobie says he just picks it up with his lift with nothing special. But that means using the legs of the center stand and the force is on a bolt head (ajustable stop) to a 1/4" cross brace. Just makes me nervous. That's not meant for lifting.
I'm thinking of taking a 7 1/4" length of 2x4 and notching the ends so it locks onto the swing arm pivot and down to the heavy cross brace on the legs. Transfering the lift force to the swing arm pivot like the adapter does.
That sounds like it would work juse fine!
