I bought my 2000 Magna with 12,000 miles on it last year. It just turned 17,000. I understand that the valves should be adjusted at 16,000 intervals and I was wondering just how important this is. Is this something that needs to be done at the dealer?
Dan DO NOT waste your money on a valve adjustment, if you are getting good performance and fuel mileage then I would not bother with it.
The Magna uses a shim under bucket, meaning the only way to adjust the valves is to put a thinner or thicker shim. I have only heard of one bike needing a shim for valve adjustment in the 9 years I have been around Magna's. They just do not changed unless you have damaged something or it was out of adjustment from the beginning, it just doesnt seem to happen on these bikes.
Seriously I would spend that money somewhere else than on having the valves checked.
Thanks, Greg. I was hoping that was the answer. Rather buy something to make her look prettier.
Is this site a great resource, or what!?!?!?!
Thanks, Mike
