Title: V65 Temp Gauge Fixed
Post by: gary_hackathorn on October 06, 2006, 11:46:14 AM
The temperature gauge on my V65 stopped working.  It had not worked for about a month.  Then it came on one day and stopped the next.

It displayed properly at powerup.  It just would not show a temperature.  All boxes were blank.  I tried shorting it to ground.  According to the Honda book the gauge should show full hot.  It did not show any boxes.

I checked the sender and it was working.

So I took the front apart and was getting ready to replace it and thought what the heck.  I grabbed a can of contact cleaner and sprayed away.  I pulled all three plugs on the guage.  I pulled the lead off the sender and sprayed it.  I noticed that the lead was a little loose so I squeezed it and put it back.  It is tighter now.

The temperature gauge works again.  So I must have had some gunked or loose contacts.
