Title: Spark Plug Color
Post by: 2fs2ns on November 14, 2006, 08:24:44 PM
So is this more black?  Brown?

The base of the plug is black, but the spark thingy (brain fart) is more brown...

I'm thinking it's a little dark, which isn't a bad thing, I want to throw a K&N in there and not mess it up too badly...

How many miles on the plugs???  They porcelain around electrode should be golden brown.
Currently they look very new and would be hard to judge, if they have been in for more than 500 miles then it is LEAN and a K&N would only worsen this.
The little "D" shaped pilot adjustment should be put at 2 7/8 turns out from a light seat, with the K&N I would put it at 3 1/32 turns out.
Hope this helps.

Yeah they're new, I'm not sure when I did them, but I'm guessing it's been real close to 500 miles if not more...  I didn't note down the mileage, I need to start doing that...

The pilot screws are about 3 1/8 turns out right now.

Run it for another 500 miles and lets see them, too early to tell anything at this time.  Other than it is not running rich at all hehehe.
All looks good!!!
