The Garage / Chain length

You bought the 530x120, correct?

If it is calling for 118 you would take links out. If your old chain is the correct link, lay the new chain beside the old one, you will be able to see how much needs to be cut out of your new chain, factor in the master link as you would with the old chain.

specs call for 118 links. Mine has 120. Is this right? Does the master link add two links to the chain?

That is unfortunate, I thought that was a permanent fix. Are the cams being built back up and ground back down? Who is doing the cam work for you?

I thought you on a 3rd gen., do you have the V45 or V65?

I know the V65s had a cam oil issue, there is a fix to get more oil to the cam area, if you have the V65 are familiar with this?

bought the bike new in '86--this is my third set of cams--some had cam problems, some didn't--just road locally(within 150 miles)--I'd like to ride as long as I'm able

That is quite a few, another Magna rider, Mike, has a high mileage Magna also, I don't know what he has done to keep it going but I don't know that it was much.

Have you had the bike long (are all those miles yours), do you tour on the Magna, are you planning on a lot more miles?

Not particularly, I use a HD Diesel oil and extended oil changes, others like synthetic, Royal Purple, auto non-conservative (can't remember what it says) oil or motorcycle specific oil.

What happened to your cams?
