The dot usually indicates the heaviest point of the tire, and it is suppose to be placed at the tire valve area as that is the lightest part of the rim..

The yellow dot is the lightest part of the tire and goes by the valve stem which is the heaviest part. Never heard the way you mentioned it Harry.

Harry,

Talking with manufacturers like "Shad Top Cases" who keep track of this, bikes sales were around one million a year and dropped to five hundred thousand a year. They may have rebounded a bit....let me look for a chart as I have not verified any info.

https://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-sales-statistics/

I could probably name eight distributors we use to do business with that have closed, we wrote checks to them in the neighborhood of 50-100,000 dollars a month to many. When they closed that part of our business went away also, we can't get the same deals with the others, they are married to to someone else and treat us literally like a stepchild.

Now if you look at bike renewal registrations (tags), I don't know how that compares. Much of the youth has many more options that take up their time or interest and have not been introduced to motorcycles. Business is way way down, dealers have dropped like flies, it is nuts.

Without new people coming in we are somewhat of a dying breed, hence the smaller bikes being offered trying to get the younger people back into bikes. When we learned to ride, a large bike was a 350cc street bike and was huge. We started on 70-125 CC bikes or mini bikes and up, until recently if you bought the 650 Honda VLX (one of the smallest streetable bikes), that was considered a girls bike for around town. Small CC bikes were not plentiful.

Place the circle at the valve stem, then instead of beads, run "Ride On".. It's like Slime, but not bad for your rim, etc..
It balances your tire AND is a sealant as well..  Might as well do both!!
I have it in both of my Victory Tires and it seems to do great..  I haven't had any nails, but my job is right next to a Screen and Window warehouse, so there are objects in the parking lot constantly..

The "S" is beside the DOT number.
I Have read somewhere that that is something that affects balance, but the circle and k9 threw me.
I Think I will use dyna beads anyway.

You have the gamut covered well.

I would have liked to see what their offer would have been also, guess that is just a way to get people to input the bike info so the site owners might possibly snag some deals.

The market has shrunk in half as far as new bike sales, many supply distributors have closed, only a few left, this just in the last 5 years or so.

Keep after it Marty.
That is interesting stuff Terry...
Is Motorcycling a dying thing??
I see a day in the future where all the cars are mesh communication, self driving "for safety sake" and that means non-self driving bikes are not allowed...
It is interesting how the Motorcycle market was so hot going into the 2008 recession and it seems the market never really rebounded, it did recover to a point, but based on your statements it never really got back on track..
i wonder how much distracted driving has been a factor in people deciding not to ride!
Anyways.. Sorry for the hijack of the thread..

Need to change the front tire. Do you know anything about the marks on the tire?
I'm trying to post pics.
