How many miles is too many miles on a magna

Dan, sorry about your head.  I had a "vibe" that you had hit it.  You know, us Dans are "connected"  LOL!
I was just surprised to hear someone, ESPECIALLY on THIS board, try and talk someone OUT of a Magna and suggest they consider other brands first.  Blasphemy say I!!

I flew into Dallas in June of 2006 to pickup a Magna and drove it back home to McAllen from Plano.  Just under 9 hour trip about 550 miles.  It was a fun drive home until I hit the Austin area,  Traffic backed up and it was HOT!!  Should have followed the MOOT motto and driven the long way home around Austin...

Very interesting post. (I've been out due to strep throat  :-().   Yes, I would drive 7 hours to see the bike.  But I would want to see detailed pictures of it.
However, if I was to drive 7 hours, my intentions would be to buy the bike.    The only negative is you have to be willing to say no.    The seller knows you are coming from 7 hours away, so he thinks the bike is sold when you say you are on your way.  This puts you in a tough situation.    Don't concern yourself with mileage or performance, you will be amazed.   Focus on cosmetics and upgrades that have been added.   Listen for cam chain rattle, look for coolant leaks, other than that it will be fine.  If it is pristine shape, buy it.  I bought my 2001 without even riding it.  Best purchase I have ever made.   Good luck to ya. :D

Well, that has been fixed -- for a fee of course -- you can now take the toll road 130 around the whole mess.  I have used the road only a few times, but there was almost no traffic, and I rode 70 mph all the way.

I have suggested to the highway gurus on more than one occasion that motorcycles should not pay a toll, but to no avail.  It is a "two-axle" vehicle, just like a car.  Maybe if you went through the toll booth on one wheel...

Only if you tell him, I keep this info out of the mix. If I divulge this initially the seller could tell me anything as he knows I can't come to verify this easily.

I use this to my benefit whether I am near or the bike is 1500 miles away. Not in an attempt to swindle a seller but it is an attempt not to have a seller swindle you. This can be gone over in more detail, you get the idea though.

Like L J BAD MAG I purchased my 2003 without ever riding it. I did have the seller send me hi-res pics to look at,(both sides of bike, front and rear tire tread, closeup of the bags, and motor) once I decided to buy the bike we drove 1.5 hours one way to purchase(not the 7 you will) and actually had a buddy ride the bike back home for me since I had not received my helmets yet. Once my helmets arrived I finally rode the bike and have not regretted the last 2 years of enjoying the ride. i actually looked for about 3 months before I found the Magna that I wanted.
So good luck and post some pics if you decide to buy.

We purchased my wife's Sabre from Ft. Lauderdale off e-bay (about 4 hour drive one way). I rode the Sabre back most of the way, and my wife drove the car..
Funny.. We then 2 months later sold the VLX she had to a guy that lived within 1 mile of the guy we bought the Sabre from .. He drove the 4 hours up (actually closer to 6 because he hit rush hour and there was an accident). Loaded it in his Harley pick up and drove it back down to Ft. Lauderdale..

So distance buying is not all that uncommon for something you want and think is a good deal..

Anyone in Texas wanna buy a Valk in Florida??? I'm still your transport!!!
