VTX headlight on - need to cut windshield headlight opening

I bought the VTX headlight from Service Honda a couple of weeks ago - just got it on the other day. I have the National Cycle windshield from JC Whitney - has a little slider window that is lighter-weight plastic than the windshield itself. You adjust up and down for windshield height, but the VTX headlight is wider than the original, and the "window" leaves a big gap at the top. I need to trim this window.. I have a dremel tool and alot of attachments for it... any suggestions so I don't screw this up?

Oh, and my Magna looks AWESOME with it!! Even with 40 degree weather, I'm tempted to take it out (but certainly not without the windshield!!)

Well the dremel tool would do it maybe a cutoff wheel but make sure to cover the spot that you are cutting with masking tape to keep it form chipping and scratching if you slip!!!!   I would take a piece of cardboard and make a template and lay that where you want to cut and mark....

You can also sand it after you get a rough cut, works quite well.

depending on the thickness you can use a fine toothed jigsaw blade but be sure to protect the glass from the guide

Well, I made a "pattern" from a piece of cardboard, taped up my existing windshield, and cut the opening using my Dremel. Worked pretty good, and it looks great! Went for a ride today with three Harley friends, and they all loved my new headlight.

You're looking at a little over $200 if you buy everything new. Or you can shop around for a used one. I picked one up for $125.
