Well, having just spent over 2 hours on the new Magna w/o windshield I am wondering is the life after a windshield?? I like the bike without a windshield but it sure was a rough ride.
Has anyone gone this route and ended up with other smaller windshields?
I had a Memphis Fats 23"wide, 26" high would like something that gives some protection. Is there something out there?

Hey Bob I have the Memphis shade Hellcat if I am not mistaken and it helps a bunch and does not IMHO detract from the bike I mean it is there but the whole thing is clear and does a good job of taking the blast off my chest and makes riding so much better and with 2 Allen screws it comes off. I will have it on the Orange bike when I come to MOOTMag.... You are welcome to try it out while we are there.....

Bob you could keep what ya got and just swap to a small handlebar mounted shield for summer...
Sure means you have to swap out shields twice a year, but hey you get to clean up under there while your at it hehehehehe.  Sounds like necessary Maintenance.

I can answer that one, I did then sold it to Allen.  Yep I am a total DUMBA%% for that one hehehehehe.
Should have SO kept that sucker, Allen you know I might just have to hog tie you and take that sucker back hehehehehe.
Nah, seeing Allen tigger dance when Bob, Curtis, and I showed for a wrench session at Allen's was awesome.  Seeing Allens giant cheese eating grin when he got the orange bike was another great moment.
Enjoy it Allen!  I wont do that again hehehehehe.

Thanks, I have heard from Chris about using a smaller profile but nice looking deflector and wondered just how well they worked.

I just took off the large National and put on a small National wind deflector.
My wife rides the Magna often now and didnt like looking thru the large shield and was not tall enough to look over... even when adjusted all way down...so..got and installed the deflector.

She is very happy with it, very little to no significant wind yet she can look over the top easily.
It feels a bit small to me cause Im much taller in the saddle and also very accustomed to the larger shield.

so our 2cents is the deflector works just fine

LOL, yeah I think I know what you mean.  Although different strokes for different folks, I don't think I'll ever own one..........and if I did it definately would not be a Sportster.

A Deuce to do the short trip duty and for travelling I like the looks of the Road Glide, but I'd probably kill myself on the 'Glide trying to make it corner like my Valk.

No need for a reason other than the journey.

You know, you need to quit having wrench sessions and have a windshield exchange and test session!  Everyone can show up, change windshields around, ride a bit, and then they'd be able to make an informed decision  :-)

I know I've been through a Memphis Malibu w/lowers, and now have a Memphis Pop Top.  Both shields have given me more buffetting then I'd like, but the PopTop just looks better.  I have not tried one of the Fats styles, but would like to sometime to see if I can reduce the buffetting.

Greg Cothern

IF you can get the shield to lean back to match the angle of the forks then you will reduce the paint mixer syndrome.  A tad bit more back is even better.

Thanks Greg, but I have tried that.  I've gone from full forward ( close to straight up), to full back on the PopTop and I haven't noticed anything different.

I'm about 6' tall, so with my Mustang seat, and the 16" high PopTop, the shield top is around chin high.  But my Malibu shield was 18" high, and I was using the stock seat at the time, so it was just below eye level, e.g., perfect hight, but it had the same "mixer" effect.
