How fast is too fast?

As I was installing my LED turn signals, I came across the same problem that others have had . . . the lights blink faster than normal.  Now I know that there are several ways to remedy that (load equalizers, relays, etc) but I have to ask the question, "Do I want to slow it back down?"  To me the faster rate makes it more noticeable , and that is definently what I am going for.  The LEDs are supposed to make others see me (and hopefully not pull out in front of me).

So I guess my question is, is it legal to allow it to blink at a faster rate, or by law does it have to be in the 60 blinks per second range.

Oddly enough, I have always wondered why cars (even the same make and model) blink at different rates.  I tend to look at that at stop lights, and I will see an identical truck that blinks at a different speed as mine.  Odd.  Anyway, what are your thoughts?  Thanks, dc

I have LED's and will be slowing them down.

I think they need to stay on a certain amount of time for someone to notice what I am about to do. At night it is not so bad but during the day it is more difficult to see.

Another reason someone might thing it is a short and not pay much attention. Others I ride with have stated it is difficult to see though.

As you state it is easy to fix, all you need is a resisiter shorted (bridging)between the two wires going to the blinker.
