EXHAUST COMPARISON

HELLO GANG.      MY QUESTION IS WHICH AFTERMARKET EXHAUST SOUNDS THE BEST.  VANCE AND HINES OR COBRA?   IVE HEARD MIXED REVIEWS OF BOTH.  ANY ONE HAVE ANY INPUT ON EITHER?  I HAVE ALSO HEARD THAT THE JARDINES ARE EXTREMELY LOUD.  I AM LOOKING TO CHANGE FROM STOCK EXHAUST SOON TO SOMETHING ELSE.  I KNOW THERE WILL BE MIXED REVIEWS HOWEVER, IS THERE ANY PERFORMANCE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO AS WELL?     THANKS,   LANCE

That is a well debated question that can only be answered by the individual owner..

V & H
Cobra (few different styles to choose from)
Jardine's
SuperTrapps
HardChrome

etc.

I have had both Cobras and V&H's.

To me there are worlds of differences between the quality and fit & finish.

Cobras didn't fit as well, chrome scratched easy, welds were not as nice, sound was more like "just noise".

V&H's, chrome was better, welds nicer, more pieces to install but the fit was better in regards to passenger peg room ( Cobras were more in the way of the passenger boot heals, I do have the peg extensions on), sound is a nice throatier tone.   

Cobra makes other fine products just these pipes are not one of them for the Magna. If you find a good deal on Cobras, get them, a step in the right direction if you want aftermarket pipes. You can always resell.

I bought Cobras not as a step but as a final pipe but not pleased so tried the V&H, nothing bad I have found.

Jardines- I don't know nor the others Greg listed for the Magna. I have heard Hard Chrome on another bike that sounded pretty good.

  I run the jardine drags; they sound good, but are loud, especially for a passinger.  I went with the jardines because of all the varmits I was dodging at night around here, believe it or not, they helped; deer scatter before I get there.  Just more fodder for the loud pipes save lives theory;  they may or may not on the highway, but I believe they do out in the sticks at night.

A LOUD horn saves more lives!  My airhorn has caught much more attention when needed than any exhaust system I have run.

If you can find Jardine Slip on Drags anywhere can you please let me know, I've been searching for them for over a month now but they've been discontinued and i can't find a single wholesaler or parts retailer with one set lying around still.

Awesome thank you so much those are the pipes I've been scouring Craigslist and eBay for but i didn't find any, now if i can only find  the last one to complete set.  Anyone got a Jardine Rumbler Right Lower Drag Pipe they want to sell??

I have the Jardines on my 82.  They sound great and arn't too loud.

I have the Jardine Megaphones and they are pretty loud my next pipes will be the Trapps love the sound !!!!
