YESTERDAY IT WAS SUNNY AND 70 DEGREES SO IT WAS RIDE TIME HERE IN NOTHWEST ARKANSAS. ME AND MY BROTHER MADE THE USUAL BUFFALO NATIONAL FOREST UP TO HARRISON BACK THRU EUREKA SPRINGS RIDE AND ALL WAS GREAT.  THE ONLY DIFFERENCE WAS FOR A CHANGE WHEN WE STOPPED TO GET GAS MY BIKE READ 101 ON THE ODOMETER AND THE FUEL TANK FILLED AT EXACTLY 2 GALLONS.   I SMILED AND MY BROTHER SHOOK HIS HEAD AS HE KEPT ON FILLING HIS SUZUKI M109 FOR 2 MORE GALLONS.  AROUND TOWN I USUALLY GET ABOUT 38 BUT HAD NO CLUE IT COULD SQUEEZE  50 OUT OF IT.  IS THIS NORMAL FOR THIS BIKE?       LANCE

Lance, I have seen a few folks whom get 50 regularly.  Riding style and how the bike is equipped can effect the fuel economy quite a bit.

My highway gas millage experience has been 55-60 MPH is about 45- 50 miles per gallon but when you put the RPM's above 5000 your gas miles goes way down 35 to 40 miles per gallon.

OHHH!!!!   that must be why.... my RPMs are usually above 5k.  lol  I average 33 city, 38 hwy (with a tail wind).  I did get over 40mpg with gear and wife loaded on a slow hill country ride.

Sunny and 70  8) ? It snowed here again today before turning to a dreary mid-40 degree rain...Virtually April and the best ride so far was last Wednesday when it hit 48 degrees. I have weather envy...
I get 50mpg pretty regularly; I think leaving the factory lean jetting alone helps in the mileage.

You are not paid for what you do, but rather for what you will do and when that time comes, you will be highly underpaid.

Some of the most fun riding I do is on back, usually rough, ranch roads here in the Hill Country.  Average speeds on these roads is probably 40-45 mph.  Even with the Cobra pipes, DD jets, and K&N Filter, I get 50 mpg on these rides. :-)

When I get up on the highway, it drops to mid 40's.  Once against a killer headwind, I got only 38.

I average between 45 and 50 regularly, even when I ride aggresively.  I think the bright red color on the 96 lets the bike go faster without using as much gas!

No need for a reason other than the journey.

Lemmessee now... been tracking me bike's mileage on a spreadsheet for the last 1000 miles (in lieu of a social life) and...

I am averaging 41.1 mpg. Low was 33.9 mpg towards the end of December and the high was 47.9 recorded last June. The high figure came after a 90 minute jaunt in the ever-shrinking rural areas north of Atlanta. My typical ride is a 22 miles round trip commute which has been about 25% highway riding at 70 mph and 75% suburban backroads at 40-45 mph. Most gas stations around here have recently switched over to E10, and I have noticed about a 1-2 mpg dip in mileage since then.
