It's doing the same thing my 1000R is doing right now. I stopped it from leaking once by tapping the carb body but it is bad enough now that doesn't help so I will be tearing it down once I am able too.

Replace the float needle and seat.

Also give Trapper a buzz he had this on his son's Super recently..

OK...
The problem is with Carb #2 (from the fuel valve). Leaks fuel out the drain tube when the bike is running only. I did the Tap Tap Tap thing, with no success...
I drained the bowl and did the Tap Tap Tap thing... Hoping to make the float drop... no success...
#2 carb has an adjustment knob right next to the most inside Screw, so taking the bowl off seems difficult at best... (wish it was an outside carb)
I have drained the carb and I am going to let it sit for a day...
I had a thought.. Wonder what you folks might think of it... What if I force Seafoam down thru the drain tube, back into the carb bowl and let it sit.. maybe another day... then drain the seafoam (maybe some tap tap tap... Anybody think this is a good idea??
The bike does have an in line fuel filter from the tank.
MagnaDaddy you think taking the carbs off is easy... any chance you have some instructions??? (I've never done this...)
Greg, You suggested I contact Trapper, I do not see any member with that name...
(I also received your present today... Thanx!!!)

Need I say again.. Thank you for helping me out.. Wish I was in Texas, at least sometimes when Hurricanes aren't headed that way... (Like Ike)...

The float is dropped, it's not going up to cut off the fuel. Could be the float has a hole or saturated with little to no buoyancy. Could be stuck on the float pin also. Something along those lines. May just need to adjust the float.

Thanx Terry.. I was thinking backwards, which of course is pretty normal for me..
No comment on the Seafoam idea, eh???

Wouldn't hurt to try... if the float pin has varnish on it that might fix it. Personally, I prefer to tear down, see what's inside and repair what ails it. Than I have piece of mind while riding and more so when on a trip.

Plus I am normally not that lucky either.

It's just that it's for a friend, that's been out of work for a few months and things are tight... He has 4 sons and he is always busy and is not very mechanically inclined...
Like I said he paid to have the carbs done a little while back... So he is going to call the place he had the work done and see if they will do anything for him...
I have never done this work, and working around his schedule and mine means the bike will be down for a while, which is not my hope... (but is my luck...)

Understand, with no dollars coming in.

If the floats are brass you can fix those, plastic I have not worked on. Taking the carb off is easy and no money involved depending on what you find. If you decide to proceed, once apart you can take photos and post here for help.

sorry for the slow reply, my new work schedule has me quite busy..

It sounds like the float is stuck... Seafoam infusion might just work, give it a try what do ya loose?  Worst case scenario is you still have to yank the carbs..

Drained #1 & #2 carbs then poured Seafoam down the Fuel line until liquid came out the bottom of the bike yesterday... Plan to get back to it sometime this week... I will tap, tap, tap, drain the seafoam tap, tap, tap. and fill with Gas tap, tap, tap... Then see what happens..
Thanx for the help..

Sorry for the long delay but you can download the Honda Shop manual from the CB Custom forum

http://www.cb750c.com/index.php

Remove the seat
Remove the tank, one screw at the back end
Basically you loosen the airbox
Loosen the air intake boots
Pull the airbox back
Loosen the insulator boots
pull the carbs back and out

OK.. It's been a while.. Life keeps a guy with wife, 4 boys and no job busy (not me, but the guy who owns this bike)..
The SeaFoam Idea did not help.. So.. We ripped the carbs off the bike last night.. We will start to tear into them soon.. Not that I have much experience with this, but I'm just trying to help the guy out..

I appreciate you guys support!!!

Sorry it is so long between updates on this tread, but it is, what it is...

I have a question now, don't know if anyone can answer this question or not, because I don't know if the Magna Floats are the same type as on the CB1000c...

We took the carbs apart and cleaned them up.. Used a q-tip to clean the float valve seats and cleaned the float needle..

On the float needle.. there is a rubber tip on one end (fits against the seat) but at the other end that the float hits, each of them have a little tit that sits up and touches the float. On three of them, this little tit seems to be spring loaded and slides into the needle, the forth one does NOT slide into the needle..
So, my question is... Is the tit suppose to slide into the needle or not.. In other words, do I have 1 bad needle or 3 bad needles?

Anybody know how to take the seats out and can they still be ordered from HondaDirect/BikeBandit.. (I will be checking this on line..

Any knowledge would be helpful...
I will send a PM to Magna Daddy, since he seems to have some knowledge in this area..

Yes it supposed to slide in and out not sure about what it does need to study on that one. The seat may or may not come out if it does it shoud come out with a socket and unscrew from the carb maybe able to find a rebuild kit some where !!!  I would soak the needle in carb cleaner and see if you can free that pin up if you cannot find parts about the best you can do!!!

The adventure begins where your plans fall through.

Parts should be easy to obtain, if not from Honda try Sudco, ebay will probably have some also. If it has a pin, it should slide. I am in the middle of replacing my needle valves in All my Suzuki's. The CB750 I sold a few months back needed new needle valves but I didn't get to it.
