Anyone know how well JB Weld holds under the temperature of exhaust?

Bob my personal preference is a product called Devcon we used a lot of it at Colgate's Sterno plant, seems to be a little better bond and you can find it almost anywhere you find J B Weld, but neither have a temp rating much over 800 degrees which end of the exhaust? Muffler for your baffle repair I assume? It definately bonds better to rough sanded bare metal. The Devcon also seems to handle vibration better. Good luck hope this helps.

Bob you can have the baffles welded back on, just got to make sure they are on straight and clocked correctly so the end plate will line up in the proper orientation.  Assuming this is what you are wishing to use the JB weld for.
I have never been a fan of JB weld never seemed to work me much.

Sorry, Bob I thought you were just patching the seam, like on the muffler mod in the tips and tricks. I would not have recommended any cold weld product in place of welding. I'm a 35 year welding and fabrication veteran. Man this is embarassing    Greg's right someone with a wire welder would be the best. Sorry I don't live closer to you guys I'd love to help

That sounds like a reason for an East Texas trip!!
Thanks just the same for your information.
I was thinking of using a smaller diameter pipe to bond the two pieces together using the liquid weld, not piece to piece. I would think that weld would hold well.

If you can't get to a welder and your going to slide a smaller dia. pipe inside try drilling and pop riveting the three pieces together be sure to use steel rivets most of the small packs of rivets everyone sells is aluminum.  Then you could cover the seam with cold weld. but welding would be best in the long run.

Hey Robert, I have a friend in the neighborhood (Rowlett) with a wire feed welder.  He and I exchange favors on a regular basis so I bet he'd weld them puppies up for US  :D .  If you think this is a good option, let me know.

Bob,

Talk to Jason or Chad at Frank's Tire Service here in Frisco, they do some welding there. You can always go through Oklahoma to test them!  :D
