My 86 V45 has rebuilt stock carbs. From riding I have noticed a stumble between 5-6k. How do I get rid of that? Also sometimes when I get on it hard the carbs will stick. When they do this the throttle cable is back to closed position and the rpm with runs at 6-8k when I engage the clutch. Only way to get rid of it is to hit the throttle quick and hard a few times. I have checked the linkage/cables for kinks. Also have lubed the cables/linkage. My bike is stock with a K&N filter.

can I do that with the carbs on? I have to remove the tank and coils neways to fix a rear leaking valve cover. Should I order the shims from Dave Dodge or do the #4 washer thing I have been reading about?

Not real sure about the V45 but you should be able to and the #4 should do you can get a assortment a Radioshack and they will have way more than you need we will have some at Gregs too. What you are doing is just bringing the needle up a little to take richen the midrange up and take the lean stumble out !!!
