Swingarm removal

Ok so looking around I see when I go to remove my swingarm I am going to need a special tool Thanks Honda LOL. Oh and it is going to cost me almost 70 bucks  I like tools and probably will get it just so if we MOOTsters need it we can use it me casa su casa tool!!
Anyhow have never done a swingarm so wondering if I will need to replace anything when I take the old one off and put the new one on. Oh and when i do this you know there will be a Wrench Session for it. Probably happen after the first of the year... So it gives me time to order parts if need be !!!! 
Well was looking around and maybe someone can go look since I am uhhhh floating down the channel what is under the chrome cap on the right side of the bike is it a Nut or does it have 4 indentations!!!

What special tool do you need it didn't take one to get it off.

When I replaced my swingarm axle it was a nut. No special tool needed at least for that.

What part is a tool needed?

Yeah Allen, as Charles alludes to I've removed the swingarm on my Valk several times!  Thanks to Charles' fabricating skills the special Honda tool was not needed to remove the lock ring on the left side.  I still have the "Otwell" tool and you're welcome to borrow it if need be.

I have a 2000 Magna and removed the swing arm to install wires for my LED lights which are fabed into the end of it (rear most part where the adjustment for chain tension is located.).
Sorry, I did not know there was a special tool!
Darn! Does that mean I have to do it all over again? LOL!
