Good news, bad news, need advice....

Good News.. My Dyna Beads arrived in the mail today...

bad news, Took the tire down to the bike shop to have it installed..
Avon tire came right off..
Added new 83 degree Valve stem, no problem
No problems getting tire on the rim, added the Dyna beads.. (3 Oz)

We could NOT get the tire to bead.. And we tried just about everything...

Two types of soap, and WD 40 as a lubricant..
Ran the tire up to 90 PSI many times

Tried Starter fluid

Tried a device called a bead setter (large hand held air tank that lets the air out all at once against the bead)

No go...

OK.. So advice.. The guy at the bike shop suggested taking it to a car tire place, as they can inflate the tire higher than 90 lbs.. Humm...

At this point there is probably so much soap and WD 40 that the dyna beads will probably not work..

I am going to deflate the tire.. Try to dry out the dyna beads..

Then what?? Should I go the car tire center route???

I did not bring my truck  gauge to read what it took for my bike but I believe it was over 100 psi.  So I would try a car or truck shop.

Got your message, I was out riding for a change or I would have anwsered sooner.

1. Dyna Beads do not need to go in until the tire has "set the bead". (which you now know)

2. Starter fluid will not help the issue you are having.

3. Warm the tire up considerably.

4. Robert says over 100 PSI, I don't know (gauge only reads to 50) so I can't discount that. If I were to guess I would have said around 80. I now have a gauge that will go the distance next time.

5. Try Ruglyde from NAPA. Rub the lube into the rubber bead with your fingers if you can. There are 2 kinds, I have used the premium. Get this stuff on the bead of the tire before the tire rests against the side of the rim.

6. Bounce the tire around as you inflate, use a rubber mallet.

7. Let it set a few minutes after you inflate to a high PSI. One side of mine popped out while sitting as I was pondering.

8. Bring it over here and we will seat the bead.  :-P

Terry I was thinking you said your tank was 115 psi that is what I was going by.

Terry I was thinking you said your tank was 115 psi that is what I was going by.

It was up to 120 but it takes a certain amount of air to push a said amount in your tire unless you allow time to equalize. As fast as it was pushing the air in I had to have a decent amount of pressure in the air tank. I am not saying your wrong Robert, you just might be right. Mine is just a guess.  :-P
