Does anyone know where I can get step by step instruction on how to replace the front fork seals on my 3G Magna? I checked the tips section and these files won't open now. Also the Honda dealer quoted me 51.00 for seals for both forks. Does this sound right? I'm trying to do all my own wrenching (at least all that I am comfortable with). Any info or help would be greatly appreciated.

$51 including labor?  That would be an awesome price.

I noticed the tips and tricks and wrenching files are dead, too.

I strongly recommend replacing the front forks with progressive springs while you have them apart.  IIRC, it wasn't hard to do if you had a way to remove the tire and keep the bike upright.

No labor, just the seals.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh dear the seals can be had for about 20 bucks and if you are going to be taking them apart you might consider the Progressive front springs while you are in there. Not a hard job download the manual or buy one and start working there is plenty of help here if you get stuck  8) 8)

I would also do the Progressive springs as well, this was the first thing I did to my 03 and the difference is night and day, next on my list is the S/S lines for the brakes

Its not hard, but it is really a two person job.  The hardest part is driving the new seals, it really helps to have the right tools.

What are the right tools? Any specialty tools? Thanks

roboto65

A piece of PVC pipe just a little bigger then the fork tube so you drive the seal. The right tool is about 60 bucks just for that size tube LOL

The dust seal can be pushed on by hand

Yeah I've been checking around online and I think I may call my local shop tomorrow and see what they charge to replace them. I'm not sure this is something I want to try and tackle alone. I may just wimp out if it isn't to expensive.

Should be about 200 or so give or take maybe as much as 300!!!

Do it yourself, one man job and easy, take the money you save and buy something nice for the bike.  :P  Here is what I used to drive the seals in with.
