Hey, don't feel like the loan arranger, there Jim.  I made the same error when I ordered mine.  Fortunately, I found another MOOTster who took the second set off my hands at the price I paid.

I absolutely love what it has done for the handling -- not just braking, but cornering, too.  Took a few rides to get accustomed to the new feel.  It seems much quicker to turn input, including weight shift.  Once you get tuned to it, I think you will love it, too.

That sounds great, I'm really looking forward to getting them installed and getting back on the road.

Keep this link handy if you have not visited here before, it gives you length of the spacer for your new progressives.

Look under Progressive Springs, proper oil level is located under Fork Seal.

If this link does not work go to the FAQ of this forum.

How to measure fork oil level here.

I've got a question. How do you get the 6mm fork bolt at the bottom of the slider to break loose? I can't seem to get it to budge. Does it have to be removed before the fork slider will come off? Thanks guys for any help.

mtrosclair

it has thread locker on it and is a bear to get loose, an impact is sugessted but I got mine out with an allen wrench and a vise grips.

Does it have to come off in order to get the fork slider off? Thanks

Yes, it does need to come off for the lowers to be separated from the upper tubes. Mild heat (too much heat and you have a chance of discoloring the metal) will help but I never have needed to do that.

I hate to say it but the best way to get it off is with the forks together the spring holds pressure on it an impact driver will work also the kind you hit with a hammer   why do most jobs require a hammer   Oh leaving in the morning gonna miss you all !!!!

Once you have the dust seal and the clip off you should be able to gentle but aggressively slide the lower fork leg down in a slide hammer motion and it will separate.
Have to be controlled and aggressive but understanding that you dont want to get crazy.  IT WILL COME apart if you have removed the clip..

If you run into the position and unable to remove take them to any shop with a impact and they will be loose in no time.

I got a little tired of messing with it today so I'm gonna start fresh in the morning. I've got the dust seal and the clip off and have emptied the fork oil. I should be able to finish it up tomorrow. Thanks for the help. :-)

Thanks Terry, I'll do that.

If these bolts are frozen from corrosion, stripped, etc.. and you can't get them out just drill the head of the bolt off useing a bit slightly larger than the threads. Then you can easily remove the stud that is left when you diassemble the forks.

I took them down to a local shop and had them back them out with an impact wrench. Took about 5 minutes to do both.
