Just checking...

I understand the carbs are typically re-jetted when going from stock pipes to aftermarket...but what if it's the other way around? Will I need to retune/adjust the carbs to make the stocks work correctly?

Also considering a K&N air filter...same question. Thanks!

Not unnecessarily, depends on what you have in there now. The bikes come lean out of the factory even with stock pipes and could use a carb rework.

How do you know the carbs have been jetted?

Do you know what jetting you have now?

Ive got stock exaust with mine jetted. So you should be alright. Damn Yankee Was it you that was trying to trade cobras for stocks in  michigan?

Sorry, TL...I really have no idea if the carbs were re-jetted for these particular Cobras...I'm working on the pretense that they were based on what I am to understand about switching from stock to aftermarket. Unfortunately, I also have no way of telling if the carbs were re-jetted unless there are tell-tale signs/symptoms...any knowledge of such would be welcome, too. As with a lot of things over the Internet, there's no shortage of conflicting information.

Gargoyle, that would have been me.  I was able to hook up with a fellow Magna-maniac in the area and we swapped pipes today. But we didn't think we needed to swap clamps, too. It turns out they are specific to the pipes--D'oh! So we'll hook up again in a couple of days to finish the transaction. Good to hear any possible re-jetting may not necessarily be a bad thing in this situation. From what I have also read, I'll need to pull a plug after a tank of gas to see what color it is. The never-ending education of the motorcycle owner...

BTW, I forgot to look closer for your basics...are you in Michigan/the Detroit area?
