I have 22k miles on this chain and it is adjusted to the red zone. I also hear some noise when riding and notice a link or two that does not re-form with the group.
I bought a new one from Cyclegear for $104 but need the rivet tool to take off the old and put on the new link since it is not the clip type. WoW! $99 for the tool. I will be checking ebay but may bite the bullet and get it from cyclegear.
Seems like an easy job if you don't want to take off the rear wheel. I hope to tackle the job at Greg's wrench session if I do not get to it before.
What is your typical mleage for a chain? This chain has been wax lubed for 18k miles.

Don't forget the front, drive, and rear, driven, sprockets.     If there is any wear to either of them you need to replace them at the same time.   :(   If you don't, your milage on the new chain will be reduced.     A worn sprocket will eat up a new chain in no time.

I usually change, or should say have changed, all three at the same time.  I usually get anywhere from 18 to 22 k miles out of a set of sprockets and chain.  Up till now all I have used is the spray wax on the chain but am now trying the grease that JR has talked about.  Just started my test with it so I can't report either way yet.   :?
