I have rust on the underside of my exhaust pipes and also near the headers.

My bike after 5 years has really never seen rain.  The rust came from prior owner, and I can say its also attributed to heat coming from the pipes (moisture)

What's the best way to remove the rust?

Thanks.

I used some PB Blaster and VERY fine steel wool to get the rough stuff off, then used a polishing wheel to shine it up after that.  Didn't turn out perfect but looks much better than the rust...

I am also interested in hearing some advice/tips.  I have a little rust coming out on the underside of my handlebars and my highway/crash bars.  Usually the factory chrome items last a lot longer than some cheaper aftermarket chrome pieces.  I have some mirrors from JC Whitney and they rusted up in no time.

I have seen his V65; it is one clean and shiny bike.

No need for a reason other than the journey.

I'm going to try the Mythbusters style Diet Coke with Aluminum Foil to see how that works.

Nothing to lose...but the RUST!

I actually tried that on a used chrome backrest frame I'd bought a couple years back.  Didn't make a noticable difference for me.

I seldom see you doing that.

However, I always do.

My statement has validity.
