This stuff is supposed to be really good for lubing splines.

Is there any preference for front vs rear in terms of taking off first?

I have a center stand.

I plan on supporting the bike with bricks to pull the rear wheel/tire off.

thanks.

Don't use anything but the Moly paste that Jim recommended above.  It really stays in place (if you don't use too much) and it is what Honda recommends.

Honda direct line has it for $8.21 and free shipping: http://www.hondadirectlineofshadyside.com/stores/byBrand.asp?brd=Honda+Oils+%26+Chemicals&str=7&ID=829709075

Thanks for the information Curtis.

By the way, I was removing my rear tire when I came to the step to Remove the rear axle self-locking nut.  I have no socket wrenches or wrenches that matter that size.

Do you need a really big wrench for it or do you need a special tool?

Preferably the correct size wrench or socket.  But if you have to use a crecent be careful.  that is the one I told you a ruined and had to replace.

Hey that phone number I have you the other day is no good anymore.  I will PM you a new one as soon as I get it.

I'll be waiting.  Yeah.  I'll be super careful.

I'm going to go try to find some tools b/c I don't have anything that size.

I took off the rear wheel last night.

It was actually fairly easy minus the fact that I had no working flash lights, and I was doing it in a poor lit garage.

I was unsure whether or not I had hydraulic disc brakes on my rear but when I pulled the tire...there were no hydraulic brake lines so I'm guessing my rear is a drum brake.

I see where I need to lubricate now ( I think).

I'm taking off the front tonight.  Hardest part so far was propping the bike up on cinder blocks all by myself.  Yikes!

If you have disk brakes you would see the actual Disk/Rotor as you do on the front.

I've run into a snag.  After trying to remove my front axle, it is very hard to get out, its making a clicking sound everytime I turn the socket wrench with an improvised lever (i think its stripping), and I got it to the point where it won't come out anymore.  I followed all the steps in the CLYMER manual, and I should say that the CLYMER manual has steps that don't apply to my bike.  In the manual, it says to remove the clamp screws....2 of them...I don't have them though.  Checked up and down, and nothing.

Ideas appreciated...otherwise, i'm going to have to refit the front and the rear...and take it to the shop.

You do have a clamp screw, on one side, that must be loose in order for the axle to come out. The axle will only come out from one side, normally I left the wheel with my foot to center and remove pressure from the axle and pull it out while turning. Sometimes I use a punch to tap it out, no more than taps to knock it out.

May have a clamp screw on both sides, hard to tell from your photos.

In the second photo, there's a little black screw in the upper left.  Is that the clamp screw?  I was unsure if it was a screw for the FORK Oil so I didn't want to unscrew it.

I guess I can go try that.

Yep.  Fork oil started pouring out...its not that one

You need to loosen the pinch bolt, it is the one in the first pic with the chrome cap still on just above the axle.

As you already found it the other is for fork oil draining.

How do you remove it?  I can't figure out what tool is used to get that out?
