Need some guidance from those of you have removed the rear wheel.  Started to remove rear wheel for transport to dealer for installation of a new valve stem.....old one leaking at base.
Did not get far before encountering brake panel holding bolt which I was unable to break loose.  It is probably torqued to approx 45ft/lbs......apparently too much for my small 1/4 in lightweight socket set to handle.  Did not feel comfortable applying more pressure.....decided to stop short of potentially breaking off the bolt head.

Do I need something more "heavyweight" than my rather lame inexpensive socket set?  Other suggestions?
Also noticed that when I get to the axle bolt,  it may be torqued even more.....maybe 50 or so!

They should break loose you need a better socket set or a breaker bar so you can get a little more leverage on it.

IF it's been on their for a while, you may want to shoot some WD-40 or Wintergreen oil at it and let it soak in. IF it has rusted/corroded it will help free things up..

Soaked it with penetrating oil a couple of times and used a "6pt" socket on it......leveraged with a piece of metal pipe.  Finally, when about to give up......got a loud "pop"!  Quickly checked to see if I sheared off the head of the bolt, or if it broke free.....fortunately the latter was the case!  The 6 point socket was what seemed to make the final difference.
