Well the camchain tensioner spring had broke and the tensioner no workie here is a pic luckly I had a backup.
Here is a pic of the offender.

Took all of 10 minutes to replace I will order another just in case it was nice having the extra which was one I had repaired and had kept just in case this happened.

I definitely need to order a couple of those to have on hand for when (not if)  that time comes.  I keep thinking those are a ticking time bomb with 140k miles.

Thinking I might just order a spring and keep with me, on trips especially, which side is the one most likely to always break?

It is strange to me that there are high mileage bikes without cam chain problems, and low mileage magna's with cam chain problems.  Can we determine if it is due to how the bikes are ridden?  Or is it just a flip of the coin.  I bought my magna with 10,000 and rode her all the way to 26,000 before I let her go.  No cam chain problems whatsoever.   I hardly ever ran her all the way to red line.  Just normal riding, very little "hot rodding".    Opinions??  How do you ride your bike?  Cam chain problems??

When I go to Bike Bandit and look at Cam Chain diagram, I don't see such a spring.. Am I looking at the wrong schematic??

I do "get on it" at times, but I have never had the engine over 6500 rpm, and eighty percent of the140k miles are highway miles. Well, I may have missed a shift or two and gone above that, but its never been redlined.  I did notice that bikebandit wants 110 dollars for one cam chain tensioner, and are the front and rear really different.

Mine (front) went at 31K EXACTLY... It was the front one... I usually keep the revs pretty low... I do use the upper range (above 5k) occasionally and I know Chad enjoyed letting it run.

As for replacing the spring, I didn't think you could buy it alone.

Yep the spring does not come separate you have to buy the tensioner as a whole found a spring place that makes springs no go.

And for what it is worth the rear never goes out as far as I know just the front one. I do get on it and was practicing takeoffs for drag racing before it let go a while later so maybe that was it.

You cannot buy just the spring, only the entire assembly however in a pinch the broken spring can be bent and twisted into a shape that will work.  Ask me how I know
