I want to replace my stock tail light on my 96 and go with a different design. I also want to have a smoke lens to go with the blackout theme im working on. Has anyone seen or used any smoke tail lights that can be made to fit the magnas?

welcome IcePrizm from Floriduh...

IF you want to go the ez route, you could go with this LED conversion and Smoke Lens from XDCycle.

I have seen a "Cat Eye" conversion on the Magna (which looked pretty nice), but not with a smoke lens..

Hope it helps..

yeah i saw the one from xdcycle, I just dont like the stock style. I like the cat eye look they are just hard to find in smoke lens.
I did find these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Moto-LED-Brake-Tail-light-honda-crf-xr-xr650-ex-trx-/250928203267?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item3a6c7c8603#ht_1966wt_1265
the only thing is they are only 5" long so they wont fill the entire fender.

What you are looking for is a place who used to make this stuff called Clear Alternatives, if you can locate a tail light lens....I might part with my turn signal smoke lens but I don't know.

i got the smoke turn signal lenses, they were easy to find and alot cheaper than the clear....go figure.
And I have seen the stock brake lens in smoke and clear for sale, I just dont like the boxy shape.
From what I've seen Clear Alternatives stuff is extremely dim, especially on a sunny day.

Im going to give it a go with that one I found on ebay maybe I can mount the signals on either side of the brake light :???:

Regarding Clear Alternatives I was referring to the lens not their lights. The smoke lens I found were hard to come by that fit the stock indicators.

Post up photos as you go so we can drool over your work.

I got my smoke indicators from D2MOTO on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130589378814 . The mfg on the packaging is volar motorsport item: TSL004.

As for the yellow, it wont be around much longer. I have a repaint planned for the winter. Thinking of maybe electric blue or flat black or something. Just not yellow.

Just so long as you paint over the existing yellow paint.. IF you strip it, then paint it, the bike will NEVER be as fast as it is right now!!!

I was looking for yellow cause I figured it would be nice and bright and stand out on the street.....ya, right. The first week I rode it 2 people pulled out in front of me within a few hundred yards of each other. Oh well, it sounded good in theory :)
I thought I was wrong once....but I was mistaken.

Ok here are some pics of my custom taillight and signals.

I was thinking of painting the bracket gloss black instead of the chrome.
It may make the signals blend in better with the brake light.  :???:
