My wife's VT1100 Sabre stopped charging...
Funny thing is, on this bike it's usually the stator...

Do you know that for a fact now or guessing.

I know it's not charging... I haven't got into the troubleshooting yet, but I am on a Sabre forum and several have replaced their stators...

Well, that is somewhat refreshing -- a charging problem that is NOT a R/R...

About the same price I think... Also may expect melted ball if plastic at the connector..

Did all the test and everything appears to be good, except it doesn't charge.. ordered a new stator & regulator plus gaskets and seals and such...
The sabre expert says it's the stator, but with 50k on the bike decided to replace both...

Replacing both is probably a good idea, never fun to be stranded and the further away from home the worse it is.

Well... I got the regulator in with no issue... Easier than the Magna...
Stator is another story... There is a support bracket where the wires leaves the Stator. Rick's put a bracket that is 1/4" taller and it won't fit in the cover... I guess i'll be calling them on Monday...

In those photos I can't tell where the bracket is.

If you look in the 1st photo (stock stator) at 4 o'clock, you can see how the wires come out of the Stator and Run thru a channel built into the cover. The bracket is under the wires between the Stator and the channel (can't see due to the wires).
In the second photo at 7 o'clock you can only see part of the channel, because the bracket (again underneith the wires) is sitting on top of the channel.

Here are two more photos of the other side of the Stator.. note one has a bracket that is 3/4" and the new one is 1"

You probably are already thinking this, what if you take out the allen screw, cut and re-drill the hole for the bracket.

Could be done, but the part comes with a 1 year warranty.. I think that would probably void the warranty.. I'll just have to wait until Monday to talk to the company..

It's also sort of all covered in resin... So, not sure how it would come out and what would become not protected from the oil bath.

Spoke to Rick's today..
They were thankful for the pictures I sent them.
This Stator fits bikes all the way back to the 80's..
Somewhere along the way, Honda added the channel for the wires to run through.
They approved for me to modify the bracket myself (not voiding the warranty).
Rick's is modifing the design going forward based on my pictures...
They said not to worry about the resin being broken as oil seeps in eventually anyways and doesn't cause any issues.

Good deal, now, do you think you can do the modification.
