I got the idea from someone else. Several years ago I saw where someone made a C shaped lifting sling.  It was made out of a single piece of 1/2 plate.  I don't have any scrap plate nor am I going to buy a piece large enough to build one.  I got the idea to make one from 3 pieces of scrap tubing and my load leveled that I use for removing car engines. I welded the three pieces but if you don't have a welder you could make a bolt together unit.

I recently swapped engines on my magna and I am certain that this would have made that job easier.

Great idea. My web is running slow so I couldnt watch the vid so pardon if you explained this, but what was wrong with the old engine why swap?  Thanks

the frame was damaged from a wreck that previous owner had and insurance totaled it.  So it was more of a frame swap.

I have another preferred method similar to this... I work in the entertainment industry and we often have big heavy stuff that needs to be moved, usually way overhead.  Chain hoists are ubiquitous... and great for this kind of application.  Nothing like a 1Ton hoist to use as overkill!
It's also nice having most of the tools I need available to borrow from work ;-)
thanks for sharing the video

Yeah, but you've got friends.   :-P
I'd rather be outside than in.

Sounds like you need to hold a wrench session!  Then you engine hoists will show up!

With a Magna, you want a bike lift to do the job. Slide it under, raise it to the required level to just "lighten" it in the frame, remove all the fastening through-bolts and the left side frame tube, and lower away.

Piece of cake.

Bike lifts are like, what, $50 now?
