Skyride and I have firmed up our travel plans to Colorado.  Any one is welcome to join and ride with us for any part of the journey:

Day 1, Thur 28
Rick and I will meet up and load up early in the morning, and drive to Clayton, NM to spend the night. (Days Inn Clayton Nm
1120 S 1st St,) Will travel through (or at least through the edges) of Amarillo en route.

Day 2 Fri 29
From Clayton to Buena Vista for a raft trip through Brown's Canyon.  The raft departs at 1:45.  When we get through and dry off, we will proceed to Salida, where we are booked at Baymont Inn & Suites Salida 7400 West US Highway 50

Day 3 Sat 30
Leave the truck at the motel in Salida, ride through Montrose to Ouray, Silverton, and Durango.  Stay at the Iron Horse Inn in Durango.

Day 4 Sun 31
Ride Pagosa Springs, Saguache, to Salida.  Load the bikes and continue to Frisco, where we have reservations at The Summit Inn Sunday through Thursday nights. 

Day 9 Friday Aug 5 -- check out and start home to Austin.  Not sure of our route at this point, but will probably not unload the bikes again until in Central Texas.

That sounds like quite a plan... We only have reservations for Sunday the 31st through Saturday August the 6th. We may try to join youi for the earlier days but I'll have to see how more things shake out.

I also booked a room at New Summit for Aug 1 -5.  They were #2 on Trip Advisor, but #1 (Alpine Inn) was right on the I-70 access road so New Summit looks more peaceful.  Terrific rate!

Since I'm still healing from last month's wreck (see other posting), I'll be cancelling this reservation next week unless someone yells.  I'm not sure if they still have plenty of rooms or are sold out yet.

Wow Lawrence, quite the plan you and Rick have! Don't tire yourselves out, plenty of riding to be done out of Frisco! You're gonna love the skyway from Durango to Ourray, it's a great cruise. We'll see you in Frisco Sunday evening.

And I am going to MISS going and SEEING you guys. I have been thinking when the trip is over if we could get together maybe for a short excursion so I don't have to wait another year to see everyone but I don't want this topic to take over the Colorado trip.

Two weeks and counting, gents!

Check your travel plans against road closure reports. There are a few wildfires going, most out of our way but one notable one along US HWY 50 between Canyon City and Salida which might be on your planned route to Frisco. The extended weather models look promising, looks like we're hitting the transition from El Niño to La Niña, and clear skies are calling. That said, weather can change quickly in this area, so bring thermal layers and rain gear if you have it. I'll try my best to keep everyone warm and dry but stuff happens sometimes... Morning temps could be in the 40s though probably mid 50s at least by the time we get on the road each morning. I doubt we'll see much above 80-85 at altitude. Dress accordingly!

Will be leaving Norman Sat., July 30th and spend Sat. night in Raton, NM.  Head to Frisco Sun.  Lawrence or Rick- depending on when you get back to Salida, I may try to meet you there in Salida?  Plan on a couple of scenic out of the way rides near Trinidad and Walsenburg on the way to Frisco. Only ten days!
