Anybody have the Cycle-istiC center stand on their MC?  I'd like to hear how it works.  Thanks.

I have not had one Jesse will probably chime in but he had clearance issues in the corners and have heard that other than that they are a great addition makes cleaning the chain and rim a cinch.....

The Cycle-Istic Centerstand is great bolt-on. I think it is well engineered and it pops up much easier than the factory center stand on my Virago. It's also so well balanced that you can press down on the rear of the seat and lift the front wheel off the ground.

Allen is right though. I have had ground clearance issues and have drug my stand in the corners. This is quite scary because it drags before my boot heels or even my foot pegs do. The only way I could get it to quite was to set the preload on my rear suspension all the way up on 5, which makes for a stiff ride.

I since have taken my stand off and set my suspension back to 2. When I change to a slightly taller rear tire (not the stock size), I will try the stand again, because I really enjoy it that much. If it still drags though, then I will put it up for sale.

Tom Duffy has a center stand and has never had a problem with it. I guess it really depends on how much you lean in the corners. :)  I like to lean... a lot.

I believe the stock rear tire is 150-80-15 what will you be going with? I will be watching tire posting because by December I will need a new tire.  I am not in to names (look at Firestone fiasco) so will be looking for a GOOD tire.  I know Maxxis is very inexpensive but I wonder if anyone has used them.   I believe Bates in Farmers Branch can do a Dunlop 555 mounted and balanced for around 115.00 (90 + 15 + tax)

Robert,

I will be going with the 170 or 180 Metzeler. There has been a long discussion going on over the MOOT list serve regarding this. Too bad you just missed out.  But if you'll just search for tires on this forum you'll find a fair amount of information.

Keep in mind that going with either of these two other tire sizes really requires you to have a modified brake stay rod or the Cycle-Istic brake stay rod (which I have.)

It will probably be October before I do the tire change.

Like Jesse said, I also have the cyclistic center stand.  I love it.  I guess I am more the cruiser than the sport rider like Jesse, so I don't get the bike leaned over to the limit like he does.  I have never scraped any parts of the center stand yet.

It is relatively easy to get the bike up on it after you figure out the technique, and it is well balanced, like they said, you can get either wheel off the ground by sitting a little weight on the passenger seat.  It makes servicing the chain a snap.   :P

The bolt on was so easy that with a little help from my daughter, she held one side in place while I bolted the other side on, we had it on in less than 15 minutes.

It also makes your bike stand out in a crowd, the only one sitting straight up while all the other bikes around it are slouching to the side.

I would like to thank Allen, Jesse and Tom for their input regarding the Cycle-istiC center stand.  From what you all said it looks like a good investment.  I ride more like Tom so I don't think I'd have the problems Jesse had when cornering.  Again, thanks for your input.

I am leaning more manly because of the uneven usage of the tire but I doubt my leaning is so far to scrape a center stand.   My wife Brenda rides with me a lot and she is nervous if I lean too much.  I am debating between a center stand and an auto-oiler.  The bike is a daily ride so every weekend I have to oil the chain. I hear the auto-oilers can be messy.

I've heard once you get them adjusted the auto oiliers are not all that bad.
