Rear Wheel Squeal

Good evening guys, hate for my first post on the forum to be a question, but I have one...

Bought a '99 Magna on Wednesday.  I've noticed when coming to a stop I can sometimes hear a squeal.  Seems that it only does it when I've been riding for a little while.  I'm guessing it might be the pads in the rear drum?  I haven't checked them yet, as I'm not really sure how

Tonight when I got home I turned the bike off and walked it back/forth.  I could only get it to squeal when going backwards, not sure what that might mean.

The rear brakes will squeak if they get wet, try using the rear brake more next time you ride, I bet after a bit more use it will quit most of the noise.  
Drum brakes are notorious for this so some of it is just going to happen.

I have the same model.  My rear brake squeaks almost always when I first start going for a ride. I don't worry about it, though. It's still got a lot of pad left. Your owners manual will tell you how to check your rear brake.

But basically you depress the brake pedal and then look back at the rear drum. There a poiner on the brake linkage and a little gauge like mark on the drum. When the pointer meets up with the litle post it's time to get new shoes.

My 97 squeals after I've been riding a while, but only in town riding and only if I get lazy about using the front brake.
